THE LOVE CONNECTION?

...And from classic soul to......The Love Connection!

Well, sort of. Those of you who watch The Game Show Network may have seen the show a few years ago called "Naturally Stoned"---named after the biggest hit by erstwhile game show host Chuck Woolery's band on Columbia Records, The Avant Garde. It was a fine piece of pop about how Chuck didn't need mind-altering substances to reach an altered state of conscoiusness---just his girl. Bet that went over with the hippies like a lead balloon!

Thier follow-up was this fine piece of sunshiny pop---also, like 'Stoned', penned by Woolery. Interestingly enough, this most decidedly pop record was produced by none other than Columbia/Epic staff producer Billy Sherrill---much better known for his legendary work with country artists such as George Jones, Tammy Wynette, and Charlie Rich.

Alas, it failed to chart, which is quite the shame. Chuck, of course, went on to fame and fortune...and even made some country records---not very good, to the best of my memory----in the 1970s for Warner Brothers, even after becoming the original host on Wheel of Fortune.
