Proof that info on everything is on the Web now.......

...and has a good story behind it, such as information on this little ditty. The "Kane" is Terry Kane of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, part of T.K. Productions, as listed on the label. Sound familiar?

TK Productions was a recording studio built by Mr. Kane-----and the studio's name was used for a record company name by music impresario Henry Stone, who had worked previously with James Brown, Ray Charles, and other all-time musical icons previously. [Read a great article about that here----where I gleamed much of this information!]

Of course, TK Records became the company that shook your booty with K.C. and the Sunshine Band.

Mr. Kane also worked as an engineer on ZZ Top's Fandango lp.

Steve Alaimo, co-producer of the track, was formerly co-host [with Paul Revere and The Raiders] of ABC-TV's "Where The Action Is" show, and was co-founder of TK Records as well. [He had his own chart success in 1963 with the great "Everyday I Have To Cry Some". [Which was later covered in Australia by three brothers named Gibb...but that's another story.]

This humorous ode to a worthless ex from 1969 was independently released, made some noise in Florida, and was picked up for national distribution by Atlantic Records....at which point it actually 'bubbled under' the Hot 100 on the Billboard charts.

It never ceases to amaze me at what I find out about strange records picked up at thrift stores on a lark!
